At San Diego Treatment and Recovery Center our experienced Therapists will determine whether emotional instability is relevant in an individual's drug addiction. When we begin the process with a new client we clinically assess each client's individual mental health issues. Our intensive outpatient treatment program incorporates a modified dual-diagnosis program that is specific to our clients specific needs.
What is a Dual Diagnosis? Whether other mental illness issues have developed as a result of chemical dependency or before addiction began. As drug dependence increases, so does the co-occurring conditions. In light of this, both disease must be dealt with at the same time to accomplish the highest percent of success. Contingent on the individual customer's needs, our treatment programs for dual diagnosed patients must consist and incorporate a plan of individual therapy, recreational therapy, nutrition and exercise, support groups, medication management, family therapy, and aftercare planning.

Before entering our Outpatient Program it may be necessary for some clients to undergo drug and/or alcohol detoxification. If so, San Diego Treatment and Recovery Center can make referrals to local facilities in order to make the transition into our program seamless.
Our outpatient addiction program in San Diego County benefits those who are unable to take time out of their lives for residential addiction treatment. People who have small children or are unable to leave their jobs may consider this option. Not every patient is a candidate for outpatient care - our addiction treatment staff evaluates each request on a case-by-case basis. Patients who have high risk factors for relapse or have engaged in long-term, high-level drug use are more likely to require inpatient care. These clients are typically from all over the United States including those from out of state and northern California as well as those from the Los Angeles or San Diego area.
Some patients require extended care when the standard program does not fully meet their needs. In extended care patients explore the patterns they seek to break, the reasons for negative behaviors they employed in the past, and how to form and keep new positive habits.

San Diego Treatment and Recovery Center Outpatient Treatment Program
Our intensive outpatient program is effective for individuals who are unable to take the extra time out of their busy lives to attend a residential treatment program. Those who are working, going to school or even stay at home parents often choose this sort of program because they simply cannot check themselves into a live-in rehab. In some instances, our clients may choose our outpatient program in conjunction with a sober living situation. We have seen great success with this approach and we feel it is the next best alternative to residential rehab.
Regardless of whether you decide to attend our intensive outpatient program only or in conjunction with sober living, the purpose of the treatment process will be to offer you guidance and support. Old habits will soon disappear as you begin using the new tools taught by our staff. It is very important to remember that there is not one solution that works for everyone. We will do our best to compile a treatment program which will be best for the individual client always keeping in mind his or her well being.

Normal Heights Sober Living San Diego
San Diego Treatment and Recovery Center has a connection with a nearby 25 bed sober living house called Normal Heights Sober Living. NHSL is an excellent environment that offers recovering addicts structure and accountability in network with other recovering individuals. 12-step meetings and other therapeutic and recovery based activities are encouraged, as newly sober individuals learn and practice their recovery and it's requirements on a daily basis. Residents at Normal Heights Sober Living are able to participate in a variety of outside activities such as attend school, have a full time job, and participate in 12 step meetings. Residents may have chores or other projects and activities within the house to help instill within them a sense of responsibility and healthy habits. In this way, the residents learn useful skills and habits that facilitate their transition back into a normal fulfilling life.
Sober Living as Long-Term Support
Many recovering addicts and alcoholics who stay in a sober living home have found that the structure, accountability and companionship give them the best chance for long term recovery while in this transition period. Residents find that the sober living environment offers a very special social network of recovery and will make many life long friends while living side by side in a sober environment. Length of stays can range from 30 days to 6 months or more depending on each individual but we've found that the longer the stay, the better chance for long term recovery.
